How to Install ChatGPT Custom Connectors
✅ Availability: ChatGPT Pro+ Deep Research Mode
ChatGPT can now use Remote MCP servers under the branding of "custom connectors". These are currently only usable when in deep research mode for Pro users.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Step 1: Access Settings
Navigate to the settings screen in your ChatGPT interface.
Look for the connectors submenu within the settings area.
Step 2: Choose Your Connector Type
In the connectors section, you can:
- Connect to native connectors - Use pre-built integrations like Box and HubSpot
- Click "Create" - Add a custom Remote MCP server

Step 3: Add Custom Connector
When creating a new custom connector, you'll be able to add:
- Name - A descriptive name for your connector
- Icon - Visual representation of your connector
- URL - The Remote MCP server endpoint
- Description - Details about what the connector does

Step 4: Use in Deep Research Mode
Once your custom connector is set up, you can use it during deep research chats with ChatGPT. The connector will be available when you're in deep research mode on paid plans.

Deep Research Only: Custom connectors are currently only available during deep research mode
Hosting Issues: Some users are experiencing trouble connecting to servers hosted on Zapier and N8N
